Snake River Animal Shelter holds Grand Opening in Idaho Falls
Published atIDAHO FALLS — The Snake River Animal Shelter held its grand opening Monday with shelter workers giving out hot dogs in exchange for dog and cat food donations.
Paul Martin, shelter manager, said the Snake River Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization that was built solely on fundraisers and donations.
“We depend a lot on volunteers,” he said.
Shelter President Sylvia Medina, said the shelter has been an ongoing project for seven years.
“We’re pretty excited about it,” said Sylvia Medina, president of Snake River Animal Shelter.
The shelter, Martin said, has the capacity for 72 dogs and 50 cats. It has eight rooms, including cat and dog kennels, a grooming room and quarantine rooms.
Nancy Jones, secretary of the shelter, said the shelter is opening today, but will not be fully-functioning until tomorrow.
“We’ll actually start taking animals tomorrow,” Jones said.
