Miami Heat dancer drops phone; dolphin brings it back
Published atA Miami Heat dancer who watched her iPhone fall into the Atlantic Ocean never thought she would see it again, much less that her phone would be returned to her in the mouth of a dolphin.
And that is exactly what happened.
The dancer, who goes by the stage name Teressa Cee, traveled with her teammates to the Bahamas earlier this month for a photoshoot.
On a day off, Cee and a group of around five other Heat dancers went swimming with dolphins at Blue Lagoon Island, she told ABC News.
Cee, of Aventura, Florida, says she and her friends were on a floating dock for their one-on-one dolphin encounters and she handed her phone to a friend to record the moment. The phone fell out of the friend’s grasp and into the ocean, quickly slipping out of sight.
“I didn’t think I was going to get it back at all,” she said. “You could see a piece of it but the rest of it was covered in sand.”
Cee said one of the dolphin trainers called over a dolphin and gave it the signal to go search. Nearly seven minutes later, the dolphin emerged with Cee’s iPhone in its mouth.
“It was incredible,” Cee said. “The trainer was actually as surprised as I was.”
“We were all laughing and shocked,” she said.
Cee posted a video of the moment the dolphin emerged from the water on her Facebook and Instagram accounts, where it quickly went viral.
Even though the incident ruined her iPhone, Cee, a Miami Heat dancer for the past three years, still described the experience as “unbelievable.”
