Caught on Camera: Truck bursts into flames, causing explosions on 17th Street
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — A Ford pickup truck caught fire and burst into flames, causing minor explosions Thursday evening.
David Dickson, the owner of the truck, says he was at 17th Street and Ross Avenue around 7 p.m. when the truck started to jerk and smoke began pouring from under the hood.
He pulled over, opened the hood and says there was a fire in the engine.
Within seconds, Dickson says the truck burst into flames. Video, shot by a passerby, shows the flames were 30-40 feet in the air at one point – scorching power lines above the truck.
Minor explosions were heard, likely from new tires Dickson says were just installed on the truck this week.
Firefighters arrived and the fire was out within 15 minutes. A portion of 17th Street was closed for a few minutes. Crews say nobody was injured.
