Colorado clerk rescues baby as mom collapses
Published atARVADA, Colorado (KDVR) — What a crazy past few days it has been for a store clerk from Arvada after she helped save a baby girl when her mother collapsed.
“I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother. It’s motherly instinct to worry about children,” Rebecca Montano said.
Montano was working behind the counter at a convenience store when the young mother walked in. The woman grabbed a soft drink and proceeded to check out.
“Then all of a sudden she had a glazed look on her face and I knew something was wrong,” Montano said.
Montano decided to reach for the baby. All the while, she was trying to talk to the mother, but the woman wouldn’t say anything. She just kept swaying back and forth.
“I came over to help the girl and she was having a seizure,” Montano said.
Montano called 911 and paramedics arrived. Montano handed the baby to a customer as she gave assistance to the woman. The woman who had the seizure is fine and so is her baby, all thanks to Montano.
People keep calling Montano a hero, but she said she’s just an average person who did a good thing.
“It’s people like you who make the world right,” a customer told her.
