IDAHO FALLS – More than 500 young dancers from Idaho and Montana participated in the Technical Moves dance competition at the Civic Auditorium.

Dance Tech Academy hosted the event, which ran Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5.

Dancers ages 4 to 18 represented 13 different studios. Each age group was judged by three judges based on appearance, choreography/routine, execution and technique.

Dance Tech Academy said dancers performed 114 routines for the solo competition, and 168 routines were performed in the team competition. Styles ranged from ballet and jazz to aerial dance.

Among the awards given was Dance Tech Academy’s own “Fury,” choreographed by Jessica Taylor, Vicki Martin and Brooke Floyd, which won best choreography.

“I would like to thank my wonderful staff, the amazingly talented studios, and the community for their continued support,” said Lori Webb Allred, the academy’s director. “It wouldn’t be the success that it is without you.”
