ISU to host Idaho Court of Appeals Judge

POCATELLO –- Idaho Court of Appeals Member Judge David W. Gratton will visit Idaho State University’s campus on March 28 and 29 to speak to Idaho State University students, area high school students and community members in the Pond Student Union Wood River Room.

Judge Gratton is a member of the Idaho Court of Appeals, the second highest court in the state. Judge Gratton was appointed to his seat by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter in 2009. Prior to being appointed, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Boise State University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Idaho College of Law.

“This is a great opportunity for students to meet someone who has done remarkably well in a legal profession,” said Shane Gleason, assistant professor of political science. “When someone like Judge Gratton wants to reach out to students it is a win-win.”

On March 28 at 5:30 p.m., Gratton will speak on the legal profession and his own legal career. Gratton will present again on the topic of civic engagement on March 29 at 11 a.m. Both presentations will be held in the PSUB Wood River Room.

Students from ISU and local high schools are encouraged to attend. The events are also open to the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about law school, the legal profession, and to gain a better understand civic engagement.

“For me, I am excited to visit with Judge Gratton and be able to see how he has gotten so far in his career,” said Sam Bratt, ISU law club president. “I hope that his advice can help me with my future plans.”
