Meet U.S. and state representatives at local rally
Published at | Updated atREXBURG — On April 9 locals will have the chance to rub elbows with Idaho’s national, state, and local officials at a Republican rally.
“It’s an opportunity for people to shake hands and talk right to (leaders of) your government,” organizer Steve Pinther said.
Locals can meet and talk with representatives of the state and and officials in the surrounding areas.
U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch and U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson will be speaking at the event, along with Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter and Lt. Gov. Brad Little.
“They will talk about what they’ve been doing in Washington, D.C., what they’ve been doing in the state Legislature and they will also be taking submitted questions from the audience,” Pinther said.
Local Republican state Legislature candidates and county officials will also be making and appearance.
Pinther said the event is intended to help to educate voters on making their best decision in upcoming elections.
“We’re not trying to push any one candidate or anything like that. We’re just making (the event) available,” Pinther said.
The event will feature a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by a dinner and program at 7 p.m.
Pinther said it will be a great political night out for the community.
“We’re quite fortunate in Idaho, If you lived somewhere else you (might) not even have the chance to see your governor. It’s a good opportunity for people,” Pinther said.
The Upper Valley Republican Rally will be held at the Madison Middle School at 575 W. Seventh South in Rexburg. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students. Go to MadisonIdahoGop.com/rally to buy tickets, or contact Doug Ricks at (208) 201-6405 for more information.
