Rexburg Albertsons undergoing massive remodeling project
Published at | Updated atREXBURG — Albertsons shoppers may have noticed missing floorboards at the entrance and bare walls near the customer service desk. That’s because the store is changing its look and customer experience.
“It’s going to look really nice when they are done,” store director Kevin Stevens told EastIdahoNews.com.
Stevens hopes these new changes will make the customer shopping experience more convenient.
“There will be shorter check stands and more checkout stands,” Stevens said. “It will be more convenient for the customer and for the checker.”
Plans for the new interior call for removal of the self-checkout stands, which will become express lanes. He said this change gives staff a chance to connect with shoppers.
“(The express lane) gives a one-on-one with the customer,” Stevens said.
Shoppers will be able to navigate through new wider aisles with ease and select items from the expanded meat and frozen food cases, Stevens said.
Other changes include new wood grain flooring and repainting the inside. Stevens said new paint is being applied to the outside as well.
“This is just going to give them a little bit more variety,” Stevens said.
The remodel also means a new floral section and a pharmacy consultation room.
Stevens said the last time the store was remodeled was 2009. Managers at Albertsons said they have been planning a remodeling for about six months.
Construction and redesign began at the end of March, and Stevens said they hope to be complete by the end of May or beginning of June. Albertsons will remain open throughout the remodel.
The store will hold a reopening event once the changes are complete.
