UPDATE: One confirmed fatality in three-car crash on 17th Street

Idaho Falls Police have confirmed one person has died as a result of the accident on 17th.
The area of 17th Street between St. Clair Road and Ponderosa Drive will be blocked off for a couple of hours as officers investigate.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.

IDAHO FALLS — At least three people have been transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after a serious head-on collision involving three vehicles on 17th Street.
The crash occurred at about 11:44 Sunday near the intersection of 17th and Juniper Drive.
Witnesses at the scene tell EastIdahoNews.com a silver four-door car was traveling west into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane. The silver car struck a black truck, which was then hit by a red two-door car.
A white car also was involved in the accident, but sustained minor damage.
The driver of the truck was extricated by emergency personnel.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department confirms that three people involved in the accident were transported to EIRMC. An additional driver was treated at the scene and released.
No other details have been released about the occupants of any of the vehicles.
