Pocatello house fire caused by child playing with lighter

POCATELLO – A house caught fire early Wednesday morning because a child was playing with a lighter, said firefighters.
The fire started just before 1 a.m. One person suffered minor burns while trying to put the fire out.
When crews arrived at the house on the 3000 block of Nora Avenue, they saw flames coming out of a window on the second floor.
Once firefighters determined everyone living in the house had evacuated, they extinguished the fire.
The damage was estimated at $53,000.
“Citizens are advised to keep matches and lighters secured and out of the reach of children,” the Pocatello Fire Department said in a news release Thursday.
