IDAHO FALLS — A lot of residents have noticed construction in front of the Ammon and Idaho Falls Walmart stores, but store management says the inconvenience will soon be coming to an end.
Managers at both locations have confirmed gas stations are being built on their parking lots. Groundbreaking for these stations began at the end of September for both the Ammon and Idaho Falls stores.
Construction is expected to be complete by the beginning of the new year. Management for the Ammon Walmart confirmed that the gas station will be owned and operated by Walmart and will included a convenience store.
EastIdahoNews.com reached out to the Idaho Falls Walmart and they confirmed that there will be a gas station, but did not confirm if it would be Walmart owned and operated.
Store officials say Walmart gas stations are part of a new Walmart standard. CSP Daily News reports that Walmart is moving forward with its plan to build and operate its own gas stations across the nation.
The Rexburg Walmart, which opened at the beginning of this year, was the first in east Idaho to have a Walmart gas station. It includes a convenience store run by Walmart employees as well.
