Astros Sign Colby Rasmus
Published at(HOUSTON, Tx.) — The Houston Astros have added outfielder Colby Rasums into the mix to add a bit of power to their lineup.
The Astros signed Rasmus to a one-year, $8 million deal, Tuesday.
Rasmus, 28, is a talented, yet inconsistent batter. Last season with the Blue Jays, Rasmus batted .225 with 18 home runs in 376 plate appearances. He also missed 58 games due to a hamstring injury.
After the Astros traded Dexter Fowler to the Chicago Cubs on Monday, the Astros needed an outfielder and Rasmus seemed like a natural fit. Right-handed batter Jake Marisnick will likely platoon with Rasmus once the season gets under way.
On January 14, the Astros also acquired catcher/outfield Evan Gattis from the Atlanta Braves.
