The video for the song just became the second most-watched video in Vevo history with more than one billion views. Only Justin Bieber’s video for “Baby” has more views.

Katy expressed her excitement over the news with an emoji-laden tweet: “Guys. Wut. Dark Horse has reached 1 BILLION views?! I seriously [heart] ur [eye]balls and ur fingers for dem clicks.”

Not bad for a video that courted controversy when it was first released last year. The Egyptian-themed visual drew complaints for including a brief shot of a man wearing a pendant representing the Arabic name for God — Allah. At one point in the video, Katy zaps the man into a pile of sand, and the apparent destruction of the pendant offended some Muslims. The video was seemingly edited to remove the necklace.

Katy’s video for “Roar” could be the next one to cross the one billion mark. It currently has more than 970 million views to date.
