IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho Falls Arts Council is welcoming best-selling pop artist and “American Idol” star David Archuleta to the Colonial Theater Thursday and Friday night.

Archuleta hasn’t publicly performed or toured since serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His sold out Idaho Falls concerts kick off his first tour since he returned from missionary service in Santiago, Chile.

“David Archuleta’s story is one that I think resonates well in our community,” said Brandi Newton, Executive Director of the Idaho Falls Arts Council. “He was a kid with a passion and talent for music who managed to turn it into am impressive career.”

Archuleta became a star when he was just 16. In 2008 more than 30 million television viewers fell in love with his angelic voice and their 44 million votes made him runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.”

Archuleta spoke with EastIdahoNews.com as his band performed a sound check at the Colonial Theater. The singer opened up about being back on tour, visiting Idaho, the vision he has for his music, and he even talked about his social life.
