Rexburg Councilman Jerry Merrill has declared his candidacy for mayor of Rexburg.
In his interview, Merrill describes the political atmosphere in his home growing up where one half of the family was Republican and the other half were Democrats. He said elections around his home were always exciting.
Merrill, a landscaper by profession, discusses factors that moved him along to running for the office, including encouragement from Rexburg voters. He also reviews some of his highlights of his four years on the City Council, including the Town & Gown conference the mayor had him attend in Washington, D.C.
