ARIMO — A Marsh Valley High School substitute teacher has been charged with being under the influence of controlled substance in public and disorderly conduct, after she was found disoriented at her desk, according to court documents.

Chelsea Nicholes, 32, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bannock County Sheriff Capt. K.G. Fonnesbeck said a student contacted their parent after Nicholes was acting “strange.” The parent called the school and a Bannock County Deputy resource officer responded to the classroom.

The deputy had to shake Nicoles to wake her up and she appeared to be disoriented, Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen told EastIdahoNews.com in an email.

Nicholes was taken to Portneuf Medical Center where she was examined and released. Fonnesbeck said the charges focus on prescription drugs.

Nicholes was charged and taken to the Bannock County Jail where bond was set at $550. She paid the bond and was released.
