Name: Emily Thomas

City: Rigby

Seat: City Council

Getting a community farmer’s market started out of her garage and turning it into a flourishing attraction nudged Emily Thomas to take a stab at running for Rigby’s City Council.

Thomas says she hopes to represent the younger families in the community and wants to add some diversity to the council.

She has been involved with the citizen’s review board and the Lions Club, and she is on the board of the senior center.

A big supporter of arts, music and community events, Thomas would like to see a community center that includes a gym, swimming pool and a theater. Thomas also wants to help the city establish its own animal shelter and animal control programs.

She works at Monticello Montessori with kindergarten children.
