Stolen vehicle found abandoned in canal

IDAHO FALLS — A stolen vehicle was found driven into a canal ditch and abandoned in Bonneville County late Saturday, Oct. 17.
The accident, on Hackman Road, was called into dispatch by a passerby. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 11:20 p.m. and found a dark SUV with Washington plates had driven into a canal.
The driver of the vehicle was not in the immediate vicinity.
Deputy Patrick Crapo told EastIdahoNews.com the car was reported stolen by its owner in Shelley.
The accident is still under investigation. No suspects have been named in the theft.
