IDAHO FALLS – Idaho Falls Community Food Bank announced Tuesday afternoon that it will be named Community Food Basket Idaho Falls effective immediately.

The name change is part of a re- branding initiative to better align the organization’s name with its implementation strategy and outreach programs.

“As we continue to strengthen our outreach plan, our parent organization The Regional Council for Christian Ministry (RCCM), determined that our name should better reflect the services that we provide and avoid continued confusion with like-named charitable organizations,” said Bud Langerak, Executive Director for Community Food Basket Idaho Falls.

Community Food Basket Idaho Falls has been providing food to families with food-insecurity since 1980, but has been confused with the Idaho Food Bank, headquartered in Boise, because of their similar name.

“As we researched better ways to communicate our mission and needs with the greater Idaho Falls community, we discovered that many local residents had been giving to the Idaho Food Bank, believing those canned goods and donations were staying wholly in Idaho Falls,” Langerak said.

As part of the name change, a re-branding effort is underway with a new website in development, new food drive efforts, greater participation in networking and outreach activities, and a new logo that represents the Christianity-based mission.
