IDAHO FALLS – A 20-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after police say he lost control of his vehicle, hit a guard rail and rolled in the median of Highway 20.

The accident happened shortly before noon Thursday at milepost 308 near the Science Center Drive exit.

Idaho State Police say Sheridan Mattson was driving westbound in a 1985 Ford Ranger when he crashed. Mattson was ejected and landed on the eastbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 20. Police say he was not wearing his seatbelt.

Mattson was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
Witnesses say he was conscious and breathing. He is currently listed in serious condition.

The left eastbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately one hour while crews worked to clear the scene. Idaho State Police was assisted by the Idaho Falls Police Department and Bonneville County Sheriffs Office.
