Father who died following house fire leaves eight children behind

ST. ANTHONY — A GoFundMe account has been set up for the wife and children of a man who lost his life following a house fire Monday, Dec. 14.
Kurt Young, 54, went into cardiac arrest at his home during the fire, Fremont County Dispatcher Megan Swensen told EastIdahoNews.com.
Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries said a deputy administered CPR to Young until he was transported by ground ambulance to Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg. He was then taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Dispatcher Kurt Turner told EastIdahoNews.com that investigators determined the fire ignited due to an electrical failure. Turner said an extension chord was plugged into an outlet, which then had complications. Officials said no one else was injured in or as a result of the fire.
Swensen, a friend of the family, set up the GoFundMe account to help the family.
Kurt was married to Melinda Young and they have eight children as well as grandchildren, Swensen said.
“They have just lost everything – their husband, father, grandfather, their home and all their belongings,” Swensen said. “They would never ask for help, but there is not a more deserving family.”
Donations were sitting around $3,000 with a goal of $10,000 late Tuesday Dec. 15.
