DUBOIS, Wyoming — A Rexburg doctor was recently arrested in Wyoming for misdemeanor domestic assault and battery.
Fremont County, Wyoming, sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael James Larson, 60, around midnight on Friday, Nov. 28, as the result of a physical confrontation between him and a 42-year-old woman. Authorities have not said what the relationship between Larson and the victim is.
Larson was booked into the Fremont County Jail with a $2,500 bond.
“The female was assaulted, and Michael Larson is alleged to have done it,” Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee told EastIdahoNews.com. “It happened at a cabin several miles northwest of Dubois.”
Larson was raised in Casper, Wyoming, and currently owns a cattle ranch in the mountains north of Dubois, according to a professional biography.
Larson paid the bond and was released. As a condition of his release, Wyoming Circuit Court Judge Robert B. Denhardt issued a no-contact order. Larson “is not to have direct or indirect contact with anyone who could be considered a witness in the case.”
Several immediate families members are listed on the no-contact order.
Additionally, a temporary restraining order was authorized by Bonneville County Magistrate Judge Earl Blower on Wednesday, Dec. 9, against Larson as part of a domestic divorce proceeding, according to court documents obtained Wednesday.
Larson’s next hearing in Fremont County, Wyoming, is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 19.
EastIdahoNews.com reached out to Larson and his attorney for comment, but has not received a response.
If convicted, Larson could be jailed for up to six months and/or given a $1,000 fine.
