UPDATE: Man dies following St. Anthony house fire
Published at | Updated atST. ANTHONY — A man died following a house fire on the 300 block of 5th North early Monday, Dec. 14.
South Fremont Fire District officials tell EastIdahoNews.com that crews were called to the residence around 6:15 a.m. Twelve firefighters and three trucks responded to the scene where investigators say smoke was coming from the doors and windows.
The fire appeared to have started in the basement and isn’t considered suspicious at this point, South Fremont firefighter Steve Lundquist said.
Fremont County Sheriff Lynn Humphries confirmed Kurtis Young was found in distress by emergency responders in the home during the fire. He was given CPR at the scene, and was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he died. His cause of death is unclear at this point.
The fire was extinguished before 9 a.m., Lundquist said.
A fire investigator will be visiting the home Tuesday, Dec. 15 to gather evidence and determine the cause of the fire.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story said Kurtis Young died in the fire. That was incorrect. EastIdahoNews.com apologizes for the error. Young died at EIRMC, following the fire.
