IDAHO FALLS — A 63-year-old male surrendered peacefully and was arrested at his home late Friday, Jan. 1, after he allegedly threatened a neighbor with a gun.

Idaho Falls Police Cpt. Royce Clements told EastIdahoNews.com the male, who has not been identified, and a neighbor got into a dispute earlier in the evening. The man pulled a gun on the neighbor during the dispute.

Afterwards, the man barricaded himself inside his apartment in the 600 block of Homer Ave. and refused to leave.

About 12 police vehicles responded to the scene at around 8:30 p.m., along with EMS and Bonneville County SWAT.

Clements said police were able to negotiate with the man and he surrendered himself to police peacefully.

The man was arrested on prior warrants and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

The incident is still under investigation.
