IDAHO FALLS — Over the next few weeks, EastIdahoNews.com is hosting a series of forums featuring candidates running for local political office in East Idaho. The Idaho primary will be held May 17.

In Bonneville County, two men are running for commissioner Seat 2 and two are running for commissioner Seat 3. Incumbent Dave Radford is running against Jonathan Walker for Seat 2. Tony Potts is running against Bryon Reed for Seat 3.

The candidates sat down with EastIdahoNews.com reporter Nate Eaton and was asked the following questions:

  1. We hear a lot about transparency in local government. Have the Bonneville County commissioners been completely transparent and how do you plan to improve that going forward?
  2. It seems that many residents don’t come to public meetings unless there is a controversial issue that impacts them. How do you plan to get your constituents to meetings and keep them informed about what’s happening?
  3. Fiber optic networks have been talked about and are currently being developed in Ammon. What role does the county play in developing digital infrastructure and what is your vision to improve that infrastructure?
  4. There can sometimes be a tense relationship between the city of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County. How do you plan to improve that relationship?
  5. There’s a lot of talk about wasteful government spending. Are there areas in the county that could be cut to save money?
