IDAHO FALLS — Over the next few weeks, EastIdahoNews.com is hosting a series of forums featuring candidates running for local political office in East Idaho. The Idaho primary will be held May 17.

In Bonneville County, Sheriff Paul Wilde is running unopposed. Wilde has been county sheriff since 2007.

Wilde agreed to sit down with EastIdahoNews.com reporter Nate Eaton and answer the following questions:

  1. Why did you decide to run again?
  2. Describe to us what a sheriff does every day.
  3. Is there more crime in Bonneville County now versus a few years ago?
  4. There has been a nationwide focus on police brutality – some justified, some not justified. What are you doing to make sure incidents don’t happen in Bonneville County and how to do you keep morale up when police are under attack?
  5. What kind of training are you deputies receiving to appropriately work with those who are mentally ill?
