Legislative candidates spar in District 34 debate in Iona

IONA — Legislative candidates in District 34 got to defend their election platforms during a candidate forum on Saturday.
The forum, sponsored by local Republican organizations, was held at the Iona City Hall for the portions of Bonneville County that fall into Legislative District 34. Iona, Ucon, and the Ririe area are all part of that district.
Incumbent Rep. Dell Raybould debated candidate M.C. “Chick” Heileson for the District 34B seat.
Incumbent Rep. Ron Nate debated challenger Doug Ricks for the District 34A seat.
Bonneville County Commission candidates and precinct committeemen also debated at the event.

Next Saturday, Madison County Republicans will be holding a similar candidate forum at 7 p.m. in the Rexburg Tabernacle.
Legislative District 34 candidates will be on hand to introduce themselves and answer questions from the public. Madison County Sheriff candidates and Commission candidates will round out the evening’s debates, according to a news release.
