The following is a news release from Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25.

POCATELLO — Pocatello High School science teacher Eric Rude received a $15,000 grant in the Partners in Science program from the M.F. Murdock Charitable Trust. The grants are provided to improve science education. He will be conducting research over the next two summers with Dr. Ernest Keeley at Idaho State University.

The grant was based on proposals submitted based on the scientific merit of the proposed project and on the potential impact on high school classrooms and labs. Mr. Rude exhibited exceptional qualities at Pocatello High School that demonstrated merit for this grant award and will most certainly bring special insights and enthusiasm into the classroom.

Applications are accepted from high school teachers and mentors from a five state region. It provides high school teachers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of science, revitalize their teaching, develop new, inquiry-based teaching strategies; and encourage more students to pursue science careers.

The selection of awardees is based on the qualification of the partner members, the quality of scientific research proposed and the potential of its impact on the high school setting.
