POCATELLO — Over the next few weeks, EastIdahoNews.com is hosting a series of forums featuring candidates running for local political office in East Idaho. The Idaho primary will be held May 17.

In Bannock County, prosecutor Steve Herzog is running unopposed. He agreed to sit down with EastIdahoNews.com reporter Nate Eaton and answer the following questions:

  1. What’s the main thing you’ve learned during your first term as prosecutor?
  2. Describe to us what a prosecutor does.
  3. What are some goals you have for your second term?
  4. The Bannock County jail is overcrowded and some inmates are being released because there isn’t room. Describe the situation and what you think needs to happen to resolve the problem.
