Wendy Horman to speak at EITC commencement
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — Several hundred students at Eastern Idaho Technical College will walk away with degrees, certificates or diplomas on Tuesday during the college’s 2016 commencement ceremonies.
The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium. Idaho District 30B Rep. Wendy Horman, (R-Idaho Falls) will deliver the commencement address.
In total 236 Associate of Applied Science degrees or certificates will be awarded to graduates alongside 195 General Education Development (GED) diplomas, according to an EITC news release.
Horman is a big advocate for education in Idaho and out-of-state. She was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in 2012.
She serves as a Commissioner for Idaho on the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education and Education Commission of the States. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Education Northwest in Portland, Oregon and on the University of Idaho McClure Center for Public Policy Research. Horman also is chairwoman of the Council of State Governments West Education and Workforce Development Committee
Locally, Horman served as a member of the Bonneville School Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2013 and as President of the Idaho School Board Association.
