Update from incident commander on the Henry’s Creek Fire
Published atBONNEVILLE COUNTY — Hundreds of firefighters have been arriving in east Idaho all day to battle the Henry’s Creek Fire.
The bulk of the fire is in the Tex Creek and Meadow Creek area. At least 43,000 acres has burned and the fire is 20 percent contained.
Incident Commander Tony DeMasters tells EastIdahoNews.com he anticipates his team will be battling the fire for the next three to five days.
“We’re expecting a pretty big wind event this evening,” DeMasters said. “We hope it doesn’t cause additional problems.”
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s office has closed Ririe Reservoir and Blacktail Park to allow fire agency to establish a command post.
Fire operations are based at Ririe Dam as well as air support using the lake for a water resource.
The Sheriff’s office warns that anyone in that restricted area will shut down air operations and the ability to fight this fire, putting more people and personnel at risk. This is also the case with drones and any ATV or UTV equipment headed into the closed area.
They ask the public to stay away from the fire areas for safety and so crews can navigate and work efficiently.
