AMMON – Utah company Kneaders Bakery and Café, is bringing the fresh taste of European Hearth breads to East Idaho.

“We make it the old fashioned way. We have an Italian hearth stone oven in the back that cooks it,” marketing director Kelly Conroy says.

This location marks the second Kneaders restaurant in the state. The other is in Meridian.

“It’s our 55th location across the country,” Conroy says.

Besides hearth breads, Kneaders also specializes sandwiches, pastries, and soups.

“Every day we have 42 different kinds of pastries, cookies, brownies. All that kind of stuff (is) made here in the restaurant. We also have fresh soups that we make here everyday with the weather getting cold (it’s) the perfect thing to warm you up,” Conroy says.

During the Fall months Kneaders has everything pumpkin for customers to order.

“Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake,” Conroy says.

If you’ve never been Conroy says the turkey bacon avocado sandwich is a popular order.

“The sure fire thing is the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. We roast our turkey’s every night so its fresh roasted, hand pulled. It’s like thanksgiving morning everyday,” Conroy says. The Focaccia bread is nice and soft, the bacon and avocado (is) perfect.”

In order to keep everything fresh Kneaders never sells day old bread. It partners with local charities to help feed those in need.

“All of the bread is made here in house. The people are in the back with the simple ingredients: (flour), water, salt. It’s not coming in in a mix,” Conroy says. “We donate the bread that we don’t use the next day,” Conroy says.

Kneaders customer Jeremy Hix said he and his family would frequent the shop when they lived in Utah.

“They have great French toast, love their sandwiches,” Hix says.

He’s happy the bakery made its way to Eastern Idaho.

“Very excited for Kneaders opening,” Hix says. “My wife’s probably even more excited than me.”

Visit the new location at Sandcreek Commons in Ammon at 3571 South 25th East. Find Kneaders on Instagram, or Facebook.
