Update: Idaho Falls house fire began in chimney, say firefighters

The Idaho Falls Police Department has released more information on Wednesday morning’s house fire.
The cause is believed to be a fire from the wood-burning stove escaping the masonry chimney.
The damage to the house is estimated at $75,000.
“Homeowners are reminded to have their chimneys inspected regularly to ensure they remain intact and in proper working order,” the fire department said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a house fire on the corner of 113 North 75th East on Wednesday morning.
Department officials say the fire started around 10 a.m., and the home’s sole occupant called in the fire.
Three fire engines and a water truck responded. Crews took water lines in the front door and cut holes through the roof.
The fire appeared to be out by 11 a.m., according to witnesses at the scene.
No one was injured in the fire or transported to the hospital.
