IDAHO FALLS — The Museum of Idaho (MOI) has received a $10,000 grant from the REA Charitable Trust Grant (Wells Fargo) for their expansion project.

“We welcome REA Charitable Trust (Wells Fargo) as a partner in our expansion.” said Karen Baker, Executive Director of the MOI, “The MOI expansion will enable us to serve our community into our future.”

The MOI has issued a Request for Qualifications and anticipates having the architectural plans for the expansion during early 2017, with the goal of breaking ground in the fall of 2017.

The REA charitable Trust grant was written with the NEH grant in mind. “The generous contribution from the REA Charitable trust will leverage another $3,333 from the NEH grant,” stated Kim Lee, Director of Grants. The NEH Grant requires 3:1 match, which means that for every three dollars donated towards our Capital Campaign, the MOI will receive an additional dollar from the NEH.

The MOI is committed to preserving and showcasing Idaho history and it currently has 25,000 objects of local historical significance in storage. The planned expansion will give the additional space required to showcase these items, which include a Columbian Mammoth and the Keefer collection.
