Search efforts for missing Blackfoot woman expand to river
Published at | Updated atBLACKFOOT — The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office is widening their search for a missing Blackfoot woman.
Kelley Haney disappeared May 11. She is believed to have disappeared from the Rose Pond Area north of Blackfoot.
Divers from Power, Bonneville, and Jefferson counties assisted Bingham County Search and Rescue crews Wednesday as they look for any signs of Haney.
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office says the assistance of the other counties gave them a different perspective and put new eyes in the water. About 21 divers searched the pond but found nothing new.
Search efforts will now be concentrated in the Snake River as water levels have lowered. Boats will continue to search the pond but it will be scaled back, and divers aren’t expected to enter the pond or river.
The sheriff’s office is following up on tips but nothing has led to a breakthrough in the case.
“It’s frustrating because we don’t have 100 percent certainty on any of it, and I know it’s frustrating for the family and we try to stay in contact with them daily and keep them updated,” said Jeff Gardner, Bingham County Chief Deputy. “We truly want closure for the family and the community because she was really well known, has a lot of friends and a lot of people care about her.”
