The following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.

POCATELLO — If you are looking to bring a furry feline friend into your home, doing so in the month of June will be the easiest on your wallet.

During “Adopt a Shelter Cat” month, the Pocatello Animal Shelter is offering prospective pet parents the chance to bring a cat or kitten home for more than half off the normal price. Cats over 6-months-old are available for $25 plus tax while kittens younger than 6 months are $35 plus tax. Included with the adoption fee is spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, City license, and a microchip implant for permanent identification.

“We’re into the part of the year where we typically see the most cats and kittens,” said Rhett Nicks, Animal Services Director. “We have cats to fit every lifestyle. So, whether you’re looking for a kitten that will play all day or another that just wants to lounge around the house, we’ve got a cat or kitten for you.”

So far, 24 kittens and 11 cats have gone to their forever homes during “Adopt a Shelter Cat” month. Currently, the shelter is home to over 140 cats with approximately 40 available for adoption on a given day.

June was proclaimed “Adopt a Shelter Cat” month in Pocatello by Mayor Brian Blad at the June 1 meeting of the Pocatello City Council.
