SALT LAKE CITY — Amazon will build a fulfillment services facility in Utah, according to a Thursday announcement by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
KSL.com reports Amazon will invest over $200 million in the project, creating 130 high-paying jobs. The location of the facility is still to be decided.
“We couldn’t have a better corporate citizen than Amazon,” Gov. Gary Herbert said during a GOED board meeting where he noted that Amazon’s investment will continue to build Utah’s brand.
Herbert and Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski had previously made recruiting trips together to Amazon headquarters in Seattle.
Amazon will receive $5.7 million in economic incentives over a limited time, or 20 percent of the expected revenue.
