DAILY FORECAST: Flood warnings expanded in eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS — It’s going to be another bright and sunny day in eastern Idaho for Thursday, June 15.
But with the sun, the danger for flooding due to snowmelt is increasing throughout the area.
Flows on the Snake River are increasing and flood warnings have been issued for various parts of the river.
The Henrys Fork of the Snake River near Rexburg is measuring at 9.3 feet, just below flood stage. Minor flooding of nearby farmland is expected over the next few days. Lower Beaver Dick Park is already under water, and some picnic shelters are inaccessible. Portions of Warm Slough Access also may be covered by water.
The Snake River near Heise is measuring above flood stage at 8.1 feet. Minor flooding near the Warm Springs Resort area is possible. The river is expected to continue to rise this week.
The Snake River near Blackfoot is measuring at flood stage of 10.5 feet. Minor flooding is forecast, and when the water reaches 11 feet minor flooding of the Riverton area will occur.
Additionally, the Big Lost River below the Mackay Reservoir also is under a flood warning. It is measuring above flood stage at 4.5 feet, and minor flooding is forecast from Leslie to the Darlington Flats.
The Teton River near Driggs is measuring just below flood stage at 4.2 feet. It is expected to rise above flood stage tonight and may reach 4.7 feet by Friday. Lowland flooding is expected in the Teton River bottoms from Bates Bridge Sportsman`s access down-river to Idaho Highway 33.
The Big Wood River near Hailey has been downgraded from a flood warning to a flood advisory. It is measuring below flood stage at 5.1 feet. Rises are expected this week, however, and minor flooding could occur in the Della View subdivision in Hailey.

Idaho Falls, Rigby and Rexburg
The Upper Snake River Plain will be partly sunny today with highs of 71 to 80 degrees. It’ll be breezy with winds of 10 mph increasing to between 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. It’ll be mostly cloudy at night with lows of 49 to 56 degrees and southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph.
Pocatello, Fort Hall and Blackfoot
The Lower Snake River Plain will partly sunny today with highs of 72 to 81 degrees. It’ll be breezy with winds of 10 mph increasing to between 10 and 20 mph in the afternoon. It’ll be mostly cloudy at night with lows of 50 to 57 degrees and southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph.
St. Anthony, Ashton, Island Park, Driggs and Victor
The Upper Snake Highlands will be mostly cloudy today with a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Highs of 66 to 75 degrees are expected. It’ll be mostly cloudy at night with a chance of rain and lows of 44 to 51 degrees.
Arco, Challis and Mackay
The Lost Rivers area will be mostly cloudy today with a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Highs of 67 to 77 degrees are expected. It’ll be mostly cloudy during the night witgh a slight chance of rain in the event and lows of 45 to 52.
Henry, Soda Springs, Downey and Lava Hot Springs
The Caribou Highlands will be partly sunny today with highs of 71 to 81 degrees. At night it’ll be cloudy with lows of 44 to 54 degrees.
