Interactive Kids Town at the Falls opening soon in east Idaho
Published at | Updated atAMMON — A fire station, restaurant, library, and other miniature town structures will be the main exhibits at a new place for kids to play.
Kids Town at the Falls in Ammon is set to open June 26 and will focus on interactive learning for children. Parents and kids as young as 6-months-old are welcome.
“To be able to do hands on learning was really exciting for me as a mom,” owner Lauren Tatton said.
A soft play area will be available for babies and interactive play exhibits are geared for kids between two and eight.
Tatton said Kids Town has been in the making for the last four years. She received her inspiration for the
play place when she and her family lived in Connecticut.

“We pretty much spent everyday going from museum to museum,” Tatton said. “We would go up to Boston or New York or to Hartford, and I just fell in love with teaching my child with interactive play.”
Tatton said there will be some 15 exhibits including a science center.
“In the fire station we’ll have dress up, fire tools. In the school house we’ll have desks and chalk boards so that the kids can pretend like they’re teachers,” Tatton said. “We have an earthquake table, a wind tunnel and a big dinosaur fossil dig with real fossils that are replicas of actual discoveries.”
Contractor Brooks Taylor is building a brontosaurus slide for the science center that’s wheelchair accessible.

Tatton said it’s been a dream come true to see Kids town built. She and her family are excited to offer something new to the area.
“I’m super excited to bring this to southeast Idaho and help further education here while offering something fun year-round for the community. It’s been really exciting to see things come to life,” Tatton said.
Kids Town at the Falls is located at 1520 N Hitt Rd. The prices are $7 for adults, $5 for kids, and children two and under are free.
