Public hearing to be held on proposed billboard changes in Pocatello
Published at | Updated atThe following is a news release from the city of Pocatello.
POCATELLO — A public hearing will be held at the Pocatello City Council’s regular meeting Thursday, Nov. 16 to hear comments from the public on proposed changes to portions of the City Code that address off-premise signs.
Under the suggested changes, the City would adopt a “cap and trade” policy for off-premises signs, also known as billboards. With this proposal, a new billboard would be allowed only as a replacement—in trade—for removal of an existing billboard, capping the number of these signs at current levels. Any replacements would be subject to all other code standards governing billboards.
All members of the public in favor of, uncommitted to, or opposed to the modifications are invited to provide their input to Councilmembers.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Written comments can be mailed to the City of Pocatello Planning and Development Services Department, P.O. Box 4169, Pocatello, ID 83205-4169.
