IDAHO FALLS — Two people were injured in a car crash at a busy intersection Monday evening.

The wreck occurred around 5:50 p.m. at the intersection West Sunnyside Road and South Yellowstone Highway. The Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to the crash.

A silver sedan and a black sedan collided at the intersection when one of the drivers was attempting to turn on to South Yellowstone Highway, according to a news release. One male and one female were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the incident to determine whom was at fault for the crash. They suspect that one of the drivers either failed to yield or failed to obey the traffic signal, but there is no conclusive information at this time.

Police expect traffic to be affected in the area for the next one to two hours and recommend taking an alternate route to avoid delays.
