Dr. Slaughter’s may be closing, but DARE isn’t going anywhere

BONNEVILLE COUNTY — Since the announcement of the final weekend for Dr. Slaughters Haunted House, the Idaho Falls/Bonneville County DARE Board members have fielded numerous questions about whether or not the DARE program itself is also ending.
Dr. Slaughter’s Haunted House has been the primary source of funding for our local DARE program and because of its success over the past 18 years, the DARE program is in great shape to continue in our area. Darrell Wagner and his dedicated staff have worked hard to make the haunted house a huge success year after year, which has helped our DARE program stay strong and gives us the ability to continue for the next couple years while a new funding source is found.

The Idaho Falls/Bonneville County DARE Program has strong support from the community and a strong influence on the children it touches every year. Having this program in our schools strengthens the future of our community and we are fortunate to have the continued support of Idaho Falls School District 91, Bonneville School District 93, the Idaho Falls Police Department, and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
All of our past and present DARE Board members and DARE Officers support Darrell Wagner in his well-deserved retirement and wish to extend our deepest thanks to him, his family and his staff for 18 great years of Dr. Slaughter’s Success.
With that, we invite everyone to come out to the final weekend of Dr. Slaughter’s Haunted House and get your scare on, Friday April 13 and Saturday April 14, 7 p.m. to midnight. Kicking off this final weekend on a Friday the 13th is absolutely a fitting end to the Dr. Slaughter’s era. All proceeds go to the Idaho Falls/Bonneville County DARE Program.
