Man accused of shooting deputy facing multiple charges in Bonneville County
Published atIDAHO FALLS — A man accused of shooting a Bingham County Sheriff’s deputy is now facing multiple felony robbery and aggravated battery charges for incidents prior to the Sept. 21 shooting.
Juan Santos-Quintero, 23, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault on law enforcement after allegedly shooting a Bingham County Sheriff’s deputy in Firth. The additional battery and robbery charges were filed in Bonneville County last week.
Santos-Quintero and Denise Lynne Williams, 25, are suspected of robbing two people outside of Panda Express on Sept. 15. Santos-Quintero allegedly punched one of the men multiple times in the face and hit him over the head with a gun before taking $102 out of his wallet.

Williams allegedly grabbed the other man by the arm and took two grocery bags from him. The grocery bags reportedly contained school supplies and soccer gear.
Santos-Quintero and Williams are also facing charges for a robbery at Common Cents on Broadway on Sept. 20.
Prior to the instances, Santos-Quintero and another unidentified Hispanic male also allegedly stole $700 worth of property from an Idaho Falls apartment on Sept. 10.
The victim told investigators he received a call from his ex-girlfriend. While on the phone with her someone knocked on his door. When he opened the door, two Hispanic men were on the porch. That’s when he noticed his ex-girlfriend sitting in a car outside his apartment, according to court documents.

Police reports show he went to confront her and that’s when the two men, one was later identified as Santos-Quintero, entered the apartment and began taking things.
When the victim went to confront them, Santos-Quintero allegedly pointed a gun at him. The victim punched Santos-Quintero in the face. Santos-Quintero, in turn, hit the victim over the head with the gun causing the gun to fire. After that, the victim complied with the two men’s demands.
They allegedly stole four skateboards, a laptop, a drone, clothes and glasses totaling about $700.
Santos-Quintero is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31 for a preliminary hearing.
