New company looking to hire hundreds of employees in eastern Idaho
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS – If you’re looking for a new job, here’s one you may want to consider.
CaptionCall is opening a new facility in Idaho Falls on Monday, Feb. 18.
Ann Bardsley, a company spokeswoman, tells EastIdahoNews.com they’re looking to hire several hundred employees gradually over the next few weeks. Several dozen will be hired during a job fair at the Residence Inn at 635 W. Broadway on Feb. 5 and 6.
“We will be hiring for both part-time and full-time positions,” Bardsley says. “Those who are hired next week during the job fair will begin training the following week on Feb. 11.”
CaptionCall provides free phone captioning services for the hard-of-hearing.
“We have a call center atmosphere, but it’s not like a normal call center because we never actually talk to anyone,” Center Manager Jennifer Stevens says.
The company provides a special phone for customers. Through a voice recognition program that works much like voice texting, the staff repeats what is being said in the conversation and the software turns the words into text for the customer to read on their phone.
After CaptionCall Center opened in Meridian nearly seven years ago, Bardsley says Idaho Falls was selected to become the second Idaho location because of its strong workforce and service-oriented culture.
“Our Meridian center has been one of our best performing centers. We’ve been able to hire great employees with a strong work ethic, and we wanted to replicate that by expanding into Idaho Falls,” says Bardsley.
With the aging baby boomer population, Bardsley says there is an increasing need for CaptionCall’s services.
The job fair is happening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Managers will be doing skill screenings and job interviews on-site. Those who attend need to wear professional attire and bring a photo ID and resume.
Starting pay begins at $10.50 an hour for full-time employees and $11 an hour for part-time. Full-time positions include vacation pay, 401K and full benefits. Stevens says CaptionCall is an ideal workplace for students or anyone who wants a flexible schedule.
“So many people who are working are still looking for something to do on the side,” Stevens says. “This works great because we can look at people’s current schedule and try to work outside of that.”
CaptionCall is located inside the Curtiss-Wright building at 1350 Whitewater Dr. #201. It will begin operating in a limited capacity Feb. 18 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will also be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“We’re very pleased to be opening a CaptionCall Center in Idaho Falls,” says Bardsley. “CaptionCall is a very strong company. We’re committed to our hard-of-hearing community across the United States. We’re excited to be here.”
