MISSOULA, Montana — A woman was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Tuesday after falling into a thermal feature while trying to take photos at Yellowstone National Park.
Park officials told NBC Montana the woman illegally entered the park and fell into a hot spring or hole where hot gases emerge near the Old Faithful geyser.
Despite being burned, officials say she drove 50 miles until being pulled over by park rangers. A medical helicopter was then called.
Rangers say the woman illegally entered the park as Yellowstone has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
