Secret Santa Update: The lunch lady who nearly collapsed opening her gift
Published atFor the past five years, we’ve been able to help surprise deserving people eastern Idaho with gifts from an anonymous Secret Santa.
Many times we’re asked for updates on the recipients so every Thursday, from now until Christmas, we’ll be posting an interview with someone who received a Secret Santa gift in the past.
Two years ago, we surprised Cheryl Stewart at Teton High School in Driggs with keys to a new car. Cheryl was home sick the day we delivered her surprise so her principal had to make up an excuse to get her in to work.
Cheryl is a colon cancer survivor who also cleans the U.S. Forest Service building in addition to working in the lunchroom. She makes rolls for all the funerals in Teton Valley and is the breadwinner as her husband battles some serious illnesses.
We recently spoke with Cheryl to see how she’s doing and she expressed how the Secret Santa car has been a huge blessing to her family – especially as her son-in-law unexpectedly died earlier this year leaving a young pregnant wife and a child.
