Man arrested for years old alleged sex crimes, including rapes

POCATELLO — Pocatello Police arrested a man Wednesday for the alleged rape of a teenager between six and eight years ago.
Trenton Jared Powell, 41, is charged with four felony counts of rape of a minor where the victim is 16 or 17 and a felony count of lewd conduct with a minor.
According to preliminary court records, the alleged rapes of the teenager happened between 2012 and 2014. The lewd conduct charge stems from an alleged incident in 2007.
It’s unknown if the rape charges and the lewd conduct charge are related. Additional details about the case are not available as a judge ordered all court documents to be sealed following a motion by the Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office.
Powell remains held in the Bannock County Jail on $300,000 bail.
Powell is expected to make an initial appearance in Bannock County Thursday afternoon.
