UPDATE: Amber Alert canceled for missing Idaho Falls boy

UPDATE:

This Amber Alert has been canceled. Derek Jesus Abitia Rodriguez, 10, has been located and is safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:

IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Police Department is requesting help to locate a missing and possibly abducted child.

Derek Jesus Abitia Rodriguez is 10 years old, weighs 60 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He is possibly wearing red shoes and a black coat.

He may be traveling with Gabriella Rodriguez, his non-custodial mother. She is 30 years old.

Police say Derek was last seen around 5 p.m. Friday. He may be traveling from Idaho Falls to Colorado, possibly through Wyoming or Colorado. He and his mother are possibly traveling in a 2006 Blue Chrysler Sebring Sedan with Colorado license plate DHR259 or a Black 90’s model Ford Expedition.

Anyone who has seen the child or the non-custodial parent since 5 p.m. is asked to contact police at (208) 529-1200. Anyone who knows their current whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately by calling 911.
