The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift more than $500,000 this holiday season. A lot more. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to help as many individuals in our community as he can.
We will be surprising deserving people and families every day from now until Christmas with gifts unique to their circumstances.
Derrick is a single dad who has full custody of his three children. He works full-time as a manager at Taco Time and recently took in his sister, who is a double amputee in a wheelchair.
When people ask Derrick how he is, he always smiles and answers, “Oh, just livin’ the dream!” He is a loving father who keeps going when the going gets tough.
He recently battled COVID-19 and is preparing for back surgery, which may cause him to miss work.
Secret Santa heard about Derrick and asked the East Idaho News elves to go pay him a visit. Watch the video above to see the surprise!
