INKOM – The final day of ski season is underway at a local ski resort.

Pebble Creek Ski Area began its final day of winter operation Sunday morning with a deck party. The event includes food, beverages and live music.

The resort hosted its annual “Pond Skim” event Saturday. Skiers and snowboarders came down the hill as fast as they could to skim 30 feet across a shallow pond.

Dana Kemtz, a resort employee, says all the snow this past week made the final weekend worthwhile. There was 18 inches of new snow and 71 inches of snow at the top of the mountain.

Those wanting to experience the snow one last time still have a chance. Pebble Creek Ski Area is hosting a snowmobile hill climb event on April 2 and 3.

More than 400 snowmobilers attend the event every year. Riders compete for cash and prizes. The event also has a reputation for being one of the resort’s best for spectators, according to its website.

The start time is 7:30 a.m. each day and concludes at 4 p.m.
